UV Honors Don Vicente Gullas on 138th Birth Anniversary

The University of the Visayas (UV) commemorated the 138th birth anniversary of its founder, Don Vicente Gullas, through a wreath-laying ceremony held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the UV Gallery, led by members of the Gullas family and University President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr.


A quiet moment of remembrance filled the UV Gallery as wreaths were laid before the bust of Don Vicente Gullas, honoring the man whose vision laid the foundation of the University of the Visayas.

The ceremony highlighted the enduring legacy of Don Vicente Gullas as an educator, statesman, and public servant whose contributions continue to guide and inspire generations of Visayanians.

Also present during the commemoration were members of the UV Executive Board, spearheaded by Dr. Gerald Anthony Gullas, Executive Chairman; Mr. Joselito Gullas, Executive Vice Chairman; and Dr. Leopold Gullas Lucero, Executive Treasurer. They were joined by Dr. Rosanna Gullas, Director for ETEEAP and Alumni Affairs; Hon. Eduardo Gullas III; Mr. Jose Miguel Gullas, Vice President for Finance and Administration; and Mr. Vince Lucero, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services Center.

Senior leaders, faculty members, deans, and students likewise attended the ceremony, reflecting the shared respect and gratitude of the UV community for the founder’s lasting impact on education and public service.
