CAS Hosts Physical Education Fun Day

THE College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), through its Physical Education unit, hosted the Physical Education (PE) Fun Day on November 29, 2024, at the University Gymnasium, with the theme "Groove and Move: Energizing Body and Soul Through Exercise and Dance.”

Spearheaded by the PE instructors, the event, which spanned the entire day, featured a variety of activities, including dance competitions, exercises, and traditional games, aimed to foster holistic student development and emphasize physical fitness, wellness, and social engagement.

Additionally, the program was designed to provide students with an opportunity to cultivate positive mindsets and strengthen community bonds.

The morning session kicked off with Zumba, led by the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) students, which was followed by the opening salvo with an engaging performance by selected first-year psychology students.

Subsequently, the Superbod Competition took place, which involved students from Physical Activities Towards Health and Fitness (PATHFIT) 1 from different participating colleges, where representatives showcased their fitness attire and promoted fitness advocacy.

The competition served not only as a platform for students to demonstrate their physical abilities but also to inspire others to embrace healthy lifestyles.

A panel of judges, along with program leaders and technical committees, evaluated the participants based on creativity, fitness knowledge, and overall presentation.

Following a brief intermission from the selected students of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), PATHFIT 1 students participated and teamed up in the traditional games and modified sports.

The segment featured a variety of fun and competitive games, including volley big ball, dodgeball, sack race, relay dribbling, and the hula hoop relay.

The College of Business Administration (CBA) Superbod representatives were hailed as the Mr. and Ms. Superbod 2024, while the College of Allied Health and Sciences (CAHS) Department was hailed as the overall champion of the activities.

Meanwhile, the afternoon session featured a series of dance performances and competitions, namely folk dance, contemporary dance, cheerdance, and hip-hop competitions.

The said competition was participated in by the selected second-year students under PATHFIT 3.

Furthermore, PE instructors Mr. Harry Juntilla and Ms. Krizia Berbisada took the stage with a duet performance.

Thereafter, an awarding ceremony concluded the event, where winners from each category were recognized for their exemplary performances.

The CBA Department clinched first place in both the cheerdance and contemporary categories.

On the other hand, CAHS bagged first place in both the folk dance and hip-hop competitions.

The event was attended and participated in by students from various colleges and departments under PATHFIT 1 and 3, contributing to the success of the program.
