THE University of the Visayas (UV), in partnership with Zonta Club of Cebu 1 (ZCC1), hosted the kick-off ceremony for the 18-day activism to prevent and fight violence against women and girls last November 25, 2024, at the UV-Main Campus Gymnasium.
The campaign is in line with Zonta International's mission and vision to unite as one in building a better world for women and girls, recognizing women's rights as human rights, and envisioning a world where no woman lives in fear of violence.
As part of the event, a seminar called Heart-to-HEART Talk was conducted to advocate for educating adolescents and youth about critical issues affecting their health and well-being.
Youth and Reproductive Health Advocate and Project Manager for the Women Empowerment Hub Project of ZCC1, Mr. Carl Dave Ang, served as the guest speaker.
His talk focused on raising awareness by providing crucial knowledge about reproductive health, teenage pregnancy, and HIV/AIDS.
Through these topics, this initiative empowers the youth with valuable information to make informed decisions, protect their health, encourage them to seek help and support, and break cycles of misinformation and vulnerability.
The seminar was attended by the faculty, staffs, and students across various colleges and departments.
