Strengthening Global Maritime Ties: UV Hosts Exchange Visit With Korea Maritime and Ocean University

The University of the Visayas (UV) welcomed 127 students and 15 faculty members from the National Korea Maritime and Ocean University (NKMOU) aboard the training ship Hanbada last October 17-18.

Led by Captain Yun Sok Lee, the exchange visit was a vibrant celebration of maritime education and partnership between the two institutions.

On the first day, the Korean delegation toured UV’s state-of-the-art maritime laboratories and simulators while being welcomed with lively performances by the Filipiniana Dance Troupe and the UV Drum and Bugle Corps.

A courtesy call on UV President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr. and Maritime Education Dean Dr. Robert M. Maluya capped the morning visit.

The following day, a total of 73 UV maritime students, accompanied by 11 faculty members, visited the training ship Hanbada, further enhancing their maritime knowledge through an orientation and familiarization session.

This exchange visit solidifies the growing relationship between NKMOU and UV, promoting global cooperation and excellence in maritime education.
