A Monumental First in Gullas Law School History: The Don Vicente Mock Trial Competition

The inaugural Don Vicente Mock Trial is where the sharp legal minds of the 3rd Year Evidence Class and the 4th Year Practice Court Class took center stage.
This year’s mock trial revolves around a fictional rape case designed to challenge the participants’ understanding of criminal law and remedial law.
The case involves the Accused, portrayed by Ivan Briones, who allegedly committed the crime against a medical student, played by Angelica Hudierez.
The 3rd Year Evidence students assumed the role of the prosecution, while the 4th Year Practice Court students faced the painstaking task of defending the accused.
Both teams gave their best and performed exceptionally well. However, a winner and a verdict had to be decided.
The competition was presided over by Atty. Renato Galeon, a sought-after expert litigator, with a distinguished panel of judges consisting of Atty. Rehne Gibb Larena, Atty. Jerald Macabaya, and Atty. Adrianne O. Tirado, all of whom are experienced litigators.
After careful deliberation, the Defense team was declared the winner based on their superior performance.
Yet, the presiding judge handed down a guilty verdict, reflecting the strength of the prosecution’s evidence—a testament to the fierce and cutthroat nature of the competition.
This event also recognized the outstanding performances of several participants, awarding them for their remarkable skills:

The Don Vicente Mock Trial is a first-of-its-kind pioneering event that will become a hallmark of Gullas Law School in preparing its students for real-world litigation challenges.
