UV's Inaugural Research Colloquium a Huge Success

Driven by its mission to foster and sustain a robust research culture among students, faculty, and non-teaching staff, the University of the Visayas hosted its inaugural Research Colloquium last Friday, October 18.
Themed “Bridging Theory and Practice: Faculty Research in Action”, the breakthrough undertaking was organized by the UV Center for Research and Innovation led by its Research Director Dr. Zosima A. Pañares in association with UV's Learning and Development Director Mark Anthony Ruiz and Faculty Research Specialists from various colleges and campuses.
The Colloquium highlighted the university’s dedication to integrating research within its academic programs and community extension efforts.
During the event, faculty and non-teaching personnel showcased their commitment to research, with 24 presentations divided into four clusters: Education and Academic Performance, Social and Behavioral Studies, Science, Technology, and Environmental Studies, and Human Resource and Business.
Dr. Johnny J. Yao Jr., the Supervising Education Program Specialist of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) was the keynote speaker.
Some experts in the field of research namely Dr. Lorlaine Dacanay, Dr. Mariae Khrisna Arreza, Dr. Gino Sumalinog, Dr. Mark Anthony Polinar, Dr. Rosein Ancheta, Dr. Sylvester Cortes, Dr. Englvert Reyes, and Dr. Joel B. Serad served as panel reactors.
The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to the authors of the four best papers: Lea Ann Villanueva from Cluster 1, Rosie Mendoza from Cluster 2, Leonel Paolo Rodriguez from Cluster 3, and Dr. Jelissa Flores from Cluster 4.
All other presenters received Certificates of Competency, recognizing their valuable contributions to UV's research initiatives.
