UV's College of Business Administration hosts stock market seminar

The University of the Visayas (UV)-Main Campus, through its College of Business Administration (CBA), held a two-day seminar titled "Foundations of Stock Investing: From Fundamental Analysis to Online Trading and Technical Insight" on August 12 at the Inday Teresing Auditorium. The event is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the world of stock investment.

The first day of the seminar focused on the "Introduction to Stock Investment and Fundamental Analysis", offering students a comprehensive guide to evaluating a company's intrinsic value. By analyzing financial statements, management quality, and market position, participants are empowered to make informed decisions about buying or selling stocks.

UV President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr. underscored the importance of taking initiative in his opening remarks.

"Start. Begin today excelling. How to begin today? You have to imagine. Set a goal that after four to five years you will be a successful professional. You will not be successful if you do not start your dream today,”
he encouraged the students.

Adding to the day's insights, Associate Professor Reynaldo Nograles from the Capital Market Institute of the Philippines delivered a lecture on "Understanding the Foundations of Stock Investing." He emphasized the long-term benefits of financial literacy, particularly for students, as they prepare to enter the professional world.

The purposeful activity was well-attended. Aside from Dr. Iñigo, the other key university leaders present were Vice President for Finance and Quality Management System Dr. Rosemarie Cruz-Español along with faculty, staff, and students from various departments and colleges.

The seminar marks a significant step in UV’s College of Business Administration’s commitment to providing students with practical knowledge that extends beyond the classroom, preparing them for a successful future in the financial markets.
