UV launches Panagtimbaya '24

THE University of the Visayas (UV) Main Campus officially welcomed the A.Y. 2024-2025, as they launched the “Panagtimbaya 2024 Meet and Greet” ceremony earlier today, August 27, 2024, with the theme “Transformation through Innovation and Excellence,” held at the University Gymnasium.
In his welcome remarks, University President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr. emphasized Stephen Covey’s habit #2, 𝘉𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘌𝘯𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥, advising students to approach the academic year with clear goals and a vision for success, urging them to envision their desired outcomes and work intentionally towards them.
“All of you here [are] studying in this university because of one focus, and that is to enjoy quality life so that you can serve and support your family, but ultimately the country in general. You are not here to play, but you are here to achieve your dream,” he said.
For her part, Director of the Student Affairs and Services Center (SASC) Dr. Anna Kathrina Oaminal-Watin, elaborated on the university’s vision for the upcoming year, focusing on holistic development for both students and staff.
Following the introduction of the university’s senior leaders, Deputy Director of Career Placement Services and Alumni Relations (CPSAR) Ms. J. V. Iway, highlighted the partnerships between UV and key industry players.
These collaborations aim to bridge the gap between education and the workforce, providing students with real-world opportunities that will enhance their future careers.
The ceremony concluded with the closing remarks from the Vice President for Administration Mr. Elmer Ocaba, who called for collaboration, unity, and discipline in tackling the new academic year ahead.
Throughout the ceremony, performances were featured by the UV Filipiniana Dance Troupe, UV Choir, and UV Drum and Bugle Corps, along with chants from students and staff representing their various academic units.
Present were the University President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr., Vice-President for Finance and Quality Management Systems Dr. Rosemarie Cruz-Español, Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Lou Cabuenas, Vice-President for Administration Mr. Elmer Ocaba, senior leaders, faculty, staff, and students.
The event was hosted by UV Alumnus Mr. Dionysus Rond “Leeno” Medel of 90.7 Brigada News FM Cebu.
