COME conducts Commencement Exercises

THE University of the Visayas College of Maritime Education (COME) held its 106th Commencement Exercises on July 31, 2024, at the University Gymnasium.
The program commenced with an Invocation from Bachelor of Science in Maritime Transportation (BSMT) Cadet Christian Mark M. Parane followed by the Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Lou Cabuenas welcome address.
Subsequently, COME Dean C/M Robert M. Maluya led the presentation of candidates for graduation from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering (BSMARE).
For his part, University President Dr. Condrado E. Iñigo Jr. granted the conferment of titles and degrees and awarding of Diplomas.
Meanwhile, Port Operation Manager of Roble Shipping Lines Incorporated and Visayanian Alumnus Mr. Jhufel F. Roble in his inspirational message encouraged the graduates to tell their guardians “Thank you so much for all the sacrifice to finish school” along with an embrace.
“Stay focused, visualize success, be humble, and seek almighty guidance”, he added.
On the other hand, the Executive Board Treasurer Dr. Leopold Gullas-Lucero, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Lou C. Cabuenas, Vice President for Administration Mr. Elmer Ocaba, COME Dean C/M Robert M. Maluya assisted by the Director of Student Records Management Myra B. Osorio spearheaded the distribution of the official Transcripts of Records (TOR) and Diplomas.
During his speech, BSMARE Cadet Lorenzo C. Ytang Jr. thanked everyone as he could learn and strive for greatness as a steward of the ocean.
In addition, the Pledge of Loyalty was led by (BSMARE) Cadet Erhone Jade E. Gumapon and was accepted by the University President, Dr. Condrado E Iñigo Jr.
Moreover, the President of the UV Alumni Association Inc. (UVAAI) Dr. Salustiano Jimenez administered the Alumni Oath welcoming the new graduates into the prestigious alumni community.
The ceremony concluded with the ceremonial tossing of caps followed by the exit of colors and the recessional.
