UV Graduate School holds Commencement Exercises

THE University of the Visayas held its 105th commencement exercises for the Graduate School with the theme: “Transformation through Innovation and Excellence” on July 26, 2024, at the UV Gymnasium, Main Campus.

Appareled with their academic regalia, the ceremony began with the processional of the graduates led by the Grand and Faculty Marshals symbolizing the formality and significance of the event.

Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Lou C. Cabuenas officially opened the ceremony with her pronouncement, welcoming everyone to the convocation.

In her message, she recalled the University Founder Don Vicente Gullas' enduring quote, “Fight best when the odds are greatest,” as she addressed the graduates which underscored the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead of them.

“We are confident that you will continue to shine brightly as ambassadors of love, leadership, and service, exemplifying the spirit of true-blooded Visayanians,” she added.

This was followed by the presentation of candidates for graduation namely: the Graduate School of Allied Health and Sciences (GSAHS), Graduate School of Business (GSB), Graduate School of Education (GSED), and Graduate School of Engineering (GSEng’g).

On the other hand, the University President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr. led the conferment of titles and degrees as well as handing the diplomas to the graduates which was assisted by the deans and executives.

For his part, Chief Education Supervisor of Policy, Planning, and Research Division (PRRD) Dr. Benjamin D. Tiongzon served as the commencement speaker for the said event.

The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Alma Mater Song, "The Green and White March," followed by the ceremonial tossing of caps creating a sense of unity and pride among the graduates.

Present were the Vice President of Finance and Quality Management Systems and CBA and GSB Dean Dr. Rosemarie Cruz-Español, CETA and GSEng’g Dean Engr. Richard T. Saing, COED and GSED Dean Dr. Aileen C. Costas, CAHS and GSAHS Dean Professor Yvonne M. Sevilla, Student Records Management Department Director Myra B. Osorio, program coordinators, and professors.

The event was attended by the graduates, accompanied by their parents, family, and friends.
