CHED–MARINA Conducts Monitoring at UV

The Commission on Higher Education–Maritime Industry Authority (CHED–MARINA) is conducting monitoring of the University of the Visayas’ maritime education programs from November 24 to 27 to assess compliance with regulatory standards and support the enhancement of program quality.

UV welcomed CHED–MARINA evaluators in a ceremony marking the start of the comprehensive monitoring of its maritime programs. Capt. Leonardo Mella, lead evaluator, highlighted that the purpose is to assist, not to find faults.

The evaluation team includes CHED–MARINA representatives Engr. Junard Hababag, Ms. Nona Marquez, Ms. Antonieta Alcover, Mr. Moises Cabreros, and Ms. Elna Sabornido. University officials present were President Dr. Conrado E. Iñigo Jr., VP for Finance and QMS Dr. Rosemarie Cruz-Español, VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Anna Lou Cabuenas, Maritime Education Dean Dr. Robert Maluya, and directors from various departments. This initiative seeks to ensure UV’s maritime programs meet regulatory standards while promoting continuous improvement in student learning.
