Our History
In 1949, Gullas High School was founded by the late Don Vicente Gullas who rented a big house owned by a certain maiden Nang Toyang in Basak, Cebu City. The school opens to its door to the First- and Second-Year enrollees. In 1950, it was transferred to it’s new site and rented a “kamalig” type building with four (4) classrooms besides the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish church in Pardo. In this year, the Third-Year level was opened. The opening of the Fourth-Year level was in 1951 and in 1952 first batch graduated.
In 1954 was the construction of its additional adjacent classrooms due to the increased of enrollment and in 1955 the rented kamalig type of building was acquired by the school from the Abellanosa and Sabellano clans. In 1956 construction of the two storey building with 4 classrooms at the West side.
In 1960, Gullas High School happened to be known among other schools due to its good performance in the National Achievement Test (NAT). In 1977 the two storey building was constructed with 10 classrooms, the old kamalig type building was demolished and converted to the school’s activity area.
In 1979, the school was given a certificate for Government Recognition and was also awarded as First Place in the Military Tactical Inspection. In 1982, the school adopted a two shift classes and the night classes for the incoming First year that was not accommodated in the day session. It offered an opportunity to the working students.
In 1985, the mini-grandstand was constructed at the activity area and the construction of the second annex two storey building with two classrooms and a Chemistry laboratory and a TLE room in 1986. The construction of two storey building that houses the Computer laboratory was in 1989.
In 2012,the Pre-school and Complete Elementary were granted to open by DepEd with renewable permits. In 2016, the Senior High School-General Academic Strand (GAS) was opened and the construction of the Vicente Gullas Building was started. And in 2017, Senior High School-Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strand was opened. Vicente Gullas Building was completed and inaugurated in the same year.
In 2019, acquisition of the school facilities such as Computer laboratories and three Science laboratories and other facilities has been improved.
