Program Description

The Program in Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering of the University inculcates basic concepts in the primary areas of Electrical Engineering inclusive of analysis of circuits containing active and passive components, electronics, electrical power technology, close loop control systems, electromagnetics, digital systems, computer applications and communications. The program is geared at producing graduates with a sound understanding of mathematical and physical foundations of electrical engineering and their use in electronic devices and systems. It also integrates intensive learning activities for the analysis and design of complex systems and the use of research to meet desired needs. The program also aims at producing graduates who are steeped in values and responsible professionals with adequate attributes.


Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

Within four years after graduation, the graduates of BS Electrical Engineering Program shall have:

  • Apply fundamental principles of mechanical engineering to solve real-world problems.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret results with a Focus on Sustainable Solutions.
  • Exhibit ethical and professional behavior with a commitment to environmental ethics in their engineering practice.
  • Possess the knowledge and skills necessary for successful careers in diverse mechanical engineering fields.
  • Engage in community service and contribute to society through their engineering expertise.

Career Opportunities

The graduates of BS Electrical Engineering program may go into the following fields of practice:

  • Consultation, Investigation, valuation and management of services requiring electrical engineering knowledge;
  • Design and preparation of plans, specifications and estimates for electric power systems, power plants, power distribution systems including power transformers. Transmission lines and network protection, switchgear, building wiring, electrical machines, equipment and others;
  • Supervision, erection, installation, testing and commissioning of power plants, substations, transmission lines, industrial plants and others;
  • Supervision of operation and maintenance of electrical equipment in power plants, industrial plants, watercrafts, electric locomotives and others;
  • Supervision in the manufacture and repair of electrical equipment including switchboards, transformers, generators, motors, apparatus and others;
  • Teaching of Electrical Engineering professional courses; and
  • Taking charge of the sale and distribution of electrical equipment and systems requiring engineering calculations or applications of engineering data.
