Not so long, the University of the Visayas had been deputized by the Philippines’ Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to award degrees through Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). This is in line with the university ETEEAP’s offering from the colleges of Criminology, Architecture, Engineering, and Business Administartion—these are the only colleges offered by the university since June 11, 1999.
And just last September 2017, in accordance with the provisions of Higher Education Act of 1994 and Executive Order No. 330 entitled “Adopting the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Commission on Higher Education as the Authority Responsible for its Implementation,” the University of the Visayas is granted to deputize programs to offer Bachelor of Secondary Education and Bachelor of Elementary Education through ETEEAP.
Anyone can benefit the said programs granted that the individual is at least a high school graduate or must have obtained or pass the Philippine Education Placement Test equivalent to first year college. He/she must be employed for at least 5 years in the field or industry related to the academic program, is at least 25 years old, and who can show evidence such as certificates from government or training seminars that can prove the capability skill of the person involved. The completion of the ETEEAP application form is also a must in order to enroll in the program.
